In India, dogs are seen as lowest of the low and extremely dangerous; however, America has a different view on dogs. It’s estimated that 37-47 percent of households in America have a pet dog, but is it good to have a pet dog, or should America fear dogs like India does. Here in America, we don’t have to worry about rabies because of vaccinations. Therefore, dogs should be a part of our families, because of the positive effects they can have. By playing with dogs owners can forget about what’s wrong with their world and on how their making their dogs world better by throwing a tennis ball. Playing isn’t enough for dogs going for runs is also necessary and this can have multiple effects on people. Going for runs with dogs is good for people physically, but it also benefits them socially. While on runs people may have to interact with other people. For example talking to others at stop lights, dog parks, or at the veterinarian’s offices are places you might meet new people. Plus who knows someone lonely may find a friend or sole mate at one of these parks, lights, or offices. Going for runs can be good for your health, but also by petting dogs you can lower your heart rate which can decrease anxiety. People have reported their dog licking or sniffing unusual bumps which may later be identified at cancer. To show just how insane dogs can smell here is an example of their ability to smell. “[A dog can smell] one cc (less then a drop) of blood, diluted into 20 Olympic sized swimming pools”. (Insitu) Not only can dogs smell cancer and a drop of blood in 20 Olympic pools they can also smell explosives. Having dogs that can smell explosives isn’t necessarily a good pet, however they do protect families and individuals. Allergies, allergies are a big reason why families don’t have dogs. Many people have allergies, so getting a dog doesn’t sound ideal, however dogs can help fight allergies. Having a pet plus children who are allergic to them will help build immunity to pet allergies. This is similar to the way vaccines work.
