Dogs were domesticated by human; therefore dog personality traits were subjected to selection based on humans’ preferences. Human bred dogs for hunting, search and rescue, herding, watchdog, service and assistance work, and many more. Due to the different preferences for personality traits, different types of dogs have different personality; therefore a certain type of dogs is more suitable to assist people in different of the area. According to Tillberg, Breed, and Hinners (2007) “personality is a set of attributes such as sociability, aggressiveness, and willingness to please (Tillberg, Breed, and Hinners, 2007).” Like most species, each dog was born with different behavior than his biological siblings or parents, and as well as each type …show more content…
The Siberian husky scored high in the pack category with total points of 62, prey with 49 points, fight with 41, and flight is 26. For pack category, the highest score for Wendy was 10 points for which she gets along with people, 9 points for greeting people, and another 9 points for getting along with other dogs. When in public space or at home, Wendy is an obedient dog with good social manners. She can easily interact with people other than her owner; she will jump up to greet them. She is friendly toward other dogs. Wendy has not shown reproductive behaviors such as mounting other dogs, and this might due to Wendy is still young and not yet ready for reproduction, for that, the point value assigned was 0. For the prey category, she was assigned 8 points for being interesting in moving objects. Around 80% of the time, she will always excite when she sees moving objects like a bike, ball, or even the squirrels chasing each other outside. Often times she also likes to steal food and play around with the household’s garbage; she will look for edible pieces of food in the kitchen. As she grows bigger now, her behavior has improved a little bit and she learns to stay away from the garbage can. The point value assigned was 8 points for stealing food. She rarely digs or buries things in the ground, so the point value assigned was 1 point, because so far she has done it only once. She scored 3 points for stalk cats, other dogs, or things in the grass. For the fight category, Wendy was assigned 10 points because she likes to play tug of war games to win; she especially like to play tug of war with her owner. Sometimes, she likes to stand her ground and show curiosity in strange objects or sounds and she will bark in a deep tone of voice, and for both, she was assigned 5 points each. As of now, she rarely or never fights with other dogs and never gets picked on by other dogs, so she received 1 and 0 point
