Dogs or cats? That is one of the most famous questions asked today in modern society. Almost everywhere you go you will always hear people arguing about this topic. Some people say cats are better than dogs, some say dogs are better than cats, well I am here to stop that arguing. My goal is to get almost everyone in this room to say dogs are better than cats. I think dogs are better than cats because dogs may prevent people from developing allergies and asthma, dogs keep us fit, and dogs are real life heroes. The first argument that will support my claim that dogs are better than cats is they, dogs, may prevent people from developing allergies and or asthma. Based on a study in mice, a substance found on dogs called “dog dust” seems to contain microbes that influences the number of immune cells in the animals airway that responds to allergens. Like I said dogs might prevent people from developing allergies because they only found that this happened on mice and not humans. There is still a chance that this can happen to humans too. This evidence shows that dogs are better than cats because I never heard of a cat that may prevent humans from developing allergies and asthma. If you …show more content…

Dogs can lower your risk of getting allergies. In one study a pediatrician at the University of Wisconsin analyzed blood from newly born babies’ and then one year later. He found that if the baby lived in a house with a dog, they were twenty-four percent less likely to have pet allergies, their chances decreased of getting an allergy skin condition called eczema, and they had higher levels of certain chemicals that show signs of a stronger immune system (Davis). Similarly, another study showed that it a family had two pets; there was a seventy percent reduction in sensitivity to all allergens (Coren 221). Pets, specifically dogs, lower a person’s chance of getting allergies because exposure to endotoxins found in their spit at a young age causes someone’s immune system to have a lower chance of reacting to certain allergens (Coren 222).…

In evolutionary term, cats are better than dogs. The study of 2,000 ancient fossils reveals that the felid family have factually been much better at surviving than the "Canid" dog clan and often at the latter's expense. The research finds that cats have played a significant role in making 40 dog species extinct, beating them to a scarce food supply because they are largely more effective hunters. On the other side, researchers have no evidence that dogs have made any cat species extinct. The dog family, which includes the wolves from which today's tame dogs are descended, originating in North America about 40 million years ago and reached a maximum assortment around 20 million years later, when there were more than 30 species on the continent.…
