The two authors argue two sides of the topic of dogs being “educationally” smart. One, as a dog trainer, solely believed that dogs are in fact educated and are smart. The other, however argues that it is the human’s delusion, and dogs are not as smart as we view them. Regardless of the two opinions, the authors use many different ways to convince the readers to lean toward their opinion. These include, factual evidence, credibility, sources, etc.

The dog trainer used forms of opinion based stories or details that go with the main topic. For example, the second passage that the dog trainer had written, writes on how being with the dog shows its potential smartness. From her personal experience, quote, “dog’s don’t think: rather, they learn to avoid the unpleasant..dongs do think and reason” (line 35-42, writer) she with her job was able to see the amazing abilities of a dog.Although this story, is opinion based, and does not come from research, the fact that it comes from personal experience enhances the essay. When writing about a certain dedication, readers are connected more closely to the writer, as the writer is more passionate about telling the story. The small details the writer adds in really helps bring the reader and writer together.

Charles Darwin is known for his studies on animals and survival. Therefore, by using him into the paragraph it gives the section a deeper meaning, and also makes the statements a little more trustable. Contrasting to the previous writer, this writer used more factual ideas which gives a whole new connection between the reader and writer. As said, the personal opinions connect the reader and writer close. This factual and credibles type of sources used in this passage, helps build the argument because it shows that even the credible sources are agreeing with him which helps lead the reader be persuaded on his
