Dog Shelter Owner Research Paper

I have 2 set career choices I have chosen for myself in the future; Server or a dog shelter owner/ volunteer. The reason I put owner or volunteer is because if serving works out good for me and it becomes a good career for me, I will volunteer at an animal shelter, instead of running it. I know neither one of these career choices are the best choices for someone to choose, but honestly, I make some pretty decent money being a server at just about at any restaurant i’ve waitressed at, so I think it’ll workout for me. I like serving because it’s instant money, you don’t have to wait 2 weeks for a paycheck. Also, you make more an hour than most jobs do, you could go in and work for 3 hours and make fifty dollars. I like the idea of being an animal …show more content…
Some people have what it takes and some do not. I can’t really tell you exactly what it is that you need to be a good server, but it does have something to do with your personality. I just know, I have worked with a lot of servers and there have been a lot of people who just can’t handle it or they just can’t function being a server. Also, the only thing, to me, to be good at being a dog shelter owner is you’ve got to love animals. I hate when people get a job to help animals and they’re mean to them and just hate their job and end up making the animals miserable and basically making them appear unadoptable because they’re going to end up mean and probably dirty without any love. There are many goods and bads about being a server and being a dog shelter owner. One of the good things about being a server, is you get instant money. For me I get $2.63 and hour plus tips, but the average is $3.50 to $7.50 and hour plus tips, and the tips you make you get to take home, it’s your cash. ( …show more content…
If you need off, they’re most likely going to give you the days off because serving isn’t a big business or really a strict job, unless you’re in a very high class restaurant. You get free food or some kind of discount. You get paid for how hard you work, like if you work harder than others, than you’ll get more money than others, serving all depends on you attitude and how hard you work for a tip. There won’t be any unfair payment. There are good things about working in an animal shelter also. One of the best things is you get to be around animals all day, and if you love animals as much as I do, that’s the best thing about working in an animal shelter. You get to make a difference in animals lives, that’s not all you do obviously but I think it’s the most important part of the job. They’re in a cage all day just waiting to be adopted, but you saved them off the streets. You’ve gotta play with them and give them love so they don’t end up angry and mean. There’s a lot more to the job but those are the key parts of it. Also, if you love animals, you get to love going to work everyday and not many people do. I would love to go to work every day if I know I was going to help

There are positive and negative aspects to being an animal shelter veterinarian. The most difficult part of being an animal shelter veterinarian is dealing with the behavioral problems of the shelter animals. “Animal Behavior for Shelter Veterinarians and Staff” supports my view that animal shelter veterinarians are required to deal with serious animal aggression and trauma. Shelter animals tend to have more behavioral problems than animals brought into a regular veterinary clinic. It is absolutely necessary to socialize with animals and read their body language in order to be the most successful shelter veterinarian possible.…

For the past couple of months, I have been volunteering at a no kill animal shelter. It's been an incredibly eye opening experience to work with animals and take care of them for hours at a time. Most of my volunteer work at the shelter was to clean out the rooms the animals stayed in yet at one point I found myself working with others to bring in lost animals and help rehabilitate them. For a brief time, the shelter was full to capacity which lead me to go out and raise awareness to others about our situation in an attempt to help find the animals…

Shelter is an important basic commodity not only for humans but also for pets. As a responsible pet owner, it is important for us to ensure that our pets have a nice, clean, and well-maintained place to stay that will not hamper his health and wellness. For most pet owners, it is already a common knowledge that the place where your pet will determine everything about his life from temperament down to hygiene and even health. If you place your pet on a bad shelter that makes him cold at night and very hot during the day, then it will definitely affect his emotions and the way he treats you too as it can be construed as a negligence on your part as an owner.…
