Treat or praise? Have you ever wondered what goes through a dog's mind ? My passion and aspiration to be a veterinarian have led me to research these exact behaviors. I chose to look into the behaviors’ of multiple untrained canines and their desire for human praise or edible treat when performing a behavior well. I believe if the number of completed tasks asked to an untrained adult dog changes when given a food reward or praise is compared, then the dogs rewarded with food will complete more tasks.
The materials needed to complete the experiment were two untrained adult dogs. A minimum of 60 milk bones, a stopwatch, a quiet neutral location, and college ruled composition notebook. Once all of the materials were collected, I began the experiment.
