As I sit and watch this group of dogs I ponder on the question of leader, guide, and follower and how these dogs are all interacting. They are all different breeds, different ages, and engage with one another differently. The longer I observe the more distinct I begin to see their roles, the signals of leadership or aspiring leadership. The dogs ranged in ages from old to a 10-week old puppy, wide-eyed and exploring the world and learning what is socially accepted and how to be a leader.
