Christopher explains why he doesn’t like these colours on pages 105-107. Christopher lists reasons and here are a few reasons why for yellow, bananas (they also turn brown) yellow flowers (because he gets hay fever from the yellow pollen) and reasons for brown wood (because it goes rotten, gets worms because people used to make machines and vehicles of wood) and a girl at Christopher’s school names Melissa Brown he explains that she’s not actually brown it’s just her last name. A few of those challenges can really teach the audience how to feel and think about these challenges that are displayed in the book. Like the ones that I have listed for example the Asperger’s syndrome. People can learn how to deal with people that experience the syndrome. The biggest personal challenge that I have spoken about is truth and trust. The thing with truth and trust is it’s easily broken and takes time to repair. It is the strongest thing in a relationship whether it’s a family relationship or partner. Haddon explains this in the novel and the audience can really learn from their own lies and mistakes in their life. Thank you for

Mark Haddon effectively reconstructs the perception of Asperger’s throughout ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time’, transforming the preconceived concept of disability to abilities that differ, through the implementation of visual aids, first person perspective, stylistic devices and multimodal structure. The utilisation of first person perspective enabled Haddon to descriptively depict the cognition of Christopher, whilst excluding the use of a label: ultimately ensuring the audience would disregard their preconceived perception of autism. Haddon’s inclusion of varying visual aids accompanied by a logical explanation clarifying his reasoning, assists in the portrayal of Christopher’s unorthodox process of cerebration. The inclusion…

Mrs. Shears had just rejected him and he felt that “she cared more for that bloody dog” (chp. 167,) than she did for him. He rationalizes the dog’s murder by saying how hurt he was by Mrs. Shears, and how he felt that she valued her dog more than him. Haddon further exposes how much people are willing to rationalize through Ed Boone’s choice to lie about his wife’s death. Mr. Boone states that ‘“he didn’t know how to explain it…it just so hard it got out of control’” (chp. 157).…

The world is full of many different books, but sadly not all of them can be considered “good.” A classic book is a book that a widespread group of people label as “good,” with an influence wide enough to be recommended by schools and colleges for their students to read. One of these such books is The Curious Incident of a Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon, except the fact that this book, while commonly loved by many, is on its own not a good piece of literature, as it is filled with a number of flaws such as an incomplete story line and a lack of character development. One of these issues is an irredeemable cast of supporting characters, as both Christopher’s father and mother show potential in the story to be interesting and enjoyable…

There is no doubt that “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time” is the greatest book to be read in a grade 9 English class. Written in 2003, this book shows a real understanding of autism and the struggles people with autism face. The award-winning author, Mark Haddon, not only created one of the most believable, original and heart-wrenching books of the decade but he gave the readers an opportunity to see the world through the eyes of a person with autism, a feat which has not been achieved before. The readers follow Christopher Boone’s quest to solve the murder of the neighbor’s dog and see him overcome fears and grow as a person. This is simply a fantastic book for so many reasons, but specifically, it should be taught to grade 9 students because of its teaching about autism, its understanding of the struggles teenagers face and its funny and alternative writing style.…

In the Curious Incident, Christopher is shown to be different through his behavior problems, inability to socialize and his odd choices of likings. Mark Haddon’s novel, The Curious incident of the Dog in the Night-time was published in 2003, and was hugely criticized for its inaccurate interpretation on the Asperger’s syndrome, by the people suffering from it if not directly pointed at. However, this was one of Christopher Boone’s, the main character’s, most defining features as it made him unique. This made it difficult to talk to others and interact with them very well, making his investigation on the death of the dog just that more harder and intriguing. Another feature that made him more interesting was his thought process, which was detailed,…
