The regions where: South China, Celebes, and Java seas, which were all severed through submarine warfare , which created a barrier that contained the Japanese. This barrier in turn, also multiplied their disadvantages because; the invisible barrier created by the American submarines had a bottleneck effect on the Japanese Navy. The submarine forces operations were covert because of their physical nature, but their destructive force made the Japanese lose hope for the war. This was a problem for Japan because now they could not roam the seas freely, which limited their strategic plans, but also kept them from being supplied because they are an island separated from essentially every possible resource and material. The containment of Japan lowered their successful delivery rate of military men, supplies, and support from ninety six percent in 1942 to eventually fifty one percent by 1945. With the minimal amount of strategic possibilities, due to the cut of their sea lines of communication, the Japanese people were fighting with a fifteen percent successful delivery of ammunition, and thirty three to fifty percent of all food and water being spoiled or lost.
