This is not only inhumane but it will lead to an additional criminal charge. The purpose of cropping ears and docking tails is so that when the dog is fighting its opponent cannot grab the animal and use it as leverage. Another reason is so that the opponent cannot detect what the animal is feeling. That would make it much harder to figure out the body language and the animals mood. For most of the dogs lives they are spent tethered to short, heavy chains. Those practices are seen in street fighting dogs. In most of the “professional” fighters they will take great care of their animal. Taking them to the vet, feeding them quality food to make sure they stay healthy. They even exercise their dog on a treadmill or a “Jenny”.

Maybe they were saved from dog fighting or maybe they had abusive owners. What I do know is that the shelter that kept them had a visit from someone associated with animal services the day before the little boy’s attack. Animal services had gone to the shelter because they had learned that certain dogs had not had required updates on their rabbi shots. Rabies can be the main cause of vicious outbreaks from any animal. Although it was not specified in the article “Boy mauled by Pit Bulls talks about his attack” if the dogs that attacked this child were up-to-date with their rabies shots, even if they were, I am still a die-hard believer that these dogs were rescued from a home that included violence to those particular dogs.…

When you look at dog attack statistics and see pit bull at the top it is easier to understand why they are there. It is because a dog attack by any three of the previously stated dogs all qualify as pit bull attacks, they are not separate categories because they all technically qualify as pit bulls. Sometimes even more than these three breeds are lumped together into the “Pit Bull” statistics. “Many dogs that are not even truly pit bulls are lumped into this category as well. Any dog bearing even one or two of the physical characteristics of a pit are often called “pit bull type” dogs”(Types 1).…

When the first pit bulls came to America by English and Irish immigrants, they were a respected breed”. Also in the Blog it says that “They were kept as hunters and guardians, as well as herders and pets” .PitBulls loved their owners and will do anything to protect them. One thing that I disagree with is that in the Newspaper Editorial source four it said that “New outlets consistently tell animal control officers that they will not cover a dog attack unless the situation was caused by a pit bull ” . I think that this is unfair because one there are many other types of dogs that are dangerous and that hurt people, and the animal officers won’t attend to the problem.…

Before pit bulls were perceived as the most dangerous dog, other breeds were in the limelight. Including German Shepherds, Newfoundlands, and Bloodhounds. In the book, The Pit Bull Placebo, Karen Delise, founder of the National Canine Research Council, writes about what she has found in her twenty years researching dog bites. Delise explains that before Bloodhounds were seen as lazy hound dogs, they were viewed as ferocious dogs. This is because they were used for tracking and killing slaves and Indian populations at the time (Delise 20).…
