Breed Discrimination Dog fighting and breed discrimination go hand in hand and are the dark side of our society that needs to be eliminated not only because of its extreme cruelty to the innocent dogs forced to participate, but also because of its association with gambling, gang activity, and drug use. What is dog fighting? Dog fighting is a “sport” in which dogs are specifically bred and raised to fight with other dogs to satisfy their owners gambling appetites. Two dogs are set in a arena in which they will be forced to fight each other. They will continue to fight until one of those dogs cannot fight anymore due to injuries, they die, or their owners are gracious enough to call the fight. In most cases if the losing dog did not die in the arena, the losing dog is killed anyways. In most cases the losing dog has lost their owner money, respect of peers and street cred so those dogs will be shot, tortured or left to die with horrific wounds. In the event that the losing dog is actually allowed to live, most likely they will not be given adequate veterinary care and wounds may be burnt, stapled or glued shut and may also die of severe infections. …show more content…

When the first pit bulls came to America by English and Irish immigrants, they were a respected breed”. Also in the Blog it says that “They were kept as hunters and guardians, as well as herders and pets” .PitBulls loved their owners and will do anything to protect them. One thing that I disagree with is that in the Newspaper Editorial source four it said that “New outlets consistently tell animal control officers that they will not cover a dog attack unless the situation was caused by a pit bull ” . I think that this is unfair because one there are many other types of dogs that are dangerous and that hurt people, and the animal officers won’t attend to the problem.…
