The short film nature of Vincent allows Tim Burton to utilise particular features that would otherwise be detrimental to a feature film’s recognition. Such techniques are engaging and amusing, but become repetitive after an extended period of time. For example, Burton uses rhyme in “Vincent Malloy is seven years old,/He’s always polite and does what he’s told” to catch the audience’s attention and present the story in a unique format. Additionally, Burton takes advantage of the lack of character development in short films to create a sense of distance in the characters’ relationships.
