Middle Schooler’s Opinion About Lying First, lying can help protect the feelings of others. For example, in the article, “Lies, Lies, Lies”, by Time Magazine, it states that “...the couple who leave early, saying the baby-sitter has a curfew, would not be thanked by the hostess if the truth were told: “Frankly, we’re bored to tears.” It makes people feel the opposite of what they thought about themselves. You don’t want to hurt the person by letting them know that they are the opposite of fun. In addition, in article one, “Americans Conflicted About Lying”, by NBCNEWS, it states that, “Velin, didn’t feel up to getting dressed and leaving home for a recent movie date, so she told a friend she was busy.” In order to not hurt someone is by using a white lie. All you need to do is come up with a small excuse to not do what you didn’t feel like doing. Lying doesn’t always have to be about getting out of trouble, you can also use it to cover up your own feelings from others. …show more content…

Her mother thought that, that was so thoughtful of her, she didn’t get in trouble. Lying nicely may get you out of trouble. Meaning, lie relatively to the subject to make it more realistic. Secondly, in the article, “Americans Conflicted About Lying”, by NBCNEWS, it states that “ If they ask if they look fat, you say, you look fabulous.” If you lie politely, you can get away without making you sound rude. By saying sweet things, you will seem more polite and less rude in the people's eyes. So, not all lies are bad and can make you have a bad image, just lie the none-bad

Most evil people in the world are described as being liars, but does this does not make all lies evil. Everyone lies and surely not everyone in the world is evil. Most people begin to lie at age four, but no one would call an innocent child evil. Many people would argue that people lie because they solely want to be deceitful, but not all lies are as simple as that. Stephanie Ericsson in The Ways We Lie discusses many different types of lies, and why people tell these types of lies.…

Studies show that lying is sometimes acceptable in certain situations to prevent any harm that can be brought on an individual. Lying to protect an individual secures the situation by sugar coating a lie that is being performed. Misleading someone can cause harm such as trust issues and that reflects badly on the person who is lying. Lying must be taken into consideration when it could protect one another. For Example, in the article “It’s the Truth: Americans Conflicted About Lying” by Randy Cohen says, ¨In the AP-Ipsos poll, 65 percent of those questioned said it was sometimes OK to lie to avoid hurting someone's feelings.”…

Should we lie because most Americans think it's always okay to lie all the time others think it's never okay to lie. Americans are very conflicted on whether we should or shouldn’t lie. I my opinion lying is only acceptable under certain circumstances, such as sparing others feelings. Some may feel that lying is never acceptable because it is morally wrong, however, I believe lying is acceptable when it can be used to protect and care for others. Randy cohen gave an example when he said “ if your wife is going out and she asks if she looks bad you say no it would be rude not to, because if you are already out of the house she will feel self conscious.…
