The political cartoon pictured above depicts an image of President Trump sitting in a tree that is about to collapse. The tree symbolizes the credibility of President Trump and is being destroyed by the Twitter birds from the Twitter logo. The main issue being covered in this cartoon is the Twitter account run by President Trump. This issue is significant in politics today because of the massive amount of tweets written by him and the huge amount of interactions each tweet gets. During his campaign he was the king of Twitter, receiving much more publicity on his social media than other candidates. Regardless of why a tweet of his became popular it was a form of free advertising and campaigning for him. During his campaign he used his account mainly to point out the faults in his opponents and to occasionally make guarantees about his own goals and campaign promises. After being elected President, many people believed the tweets would stop or at least slow down; however, it seems that becoming President has done nothing to change his social media presence. President Trump constantly tweets his opinions on just about every issue with little professionalism. Each tweet seems to lack a filter, containing sometimes questionable content. Political cartoons are a popular way to incorporate humor and satire into a political message. Since politics is such a serious subject sometimes people are uninterested in hearing about any political issues. By using humor, a larger audience can be reached because people will be more willing to read a funny political cartoon or watch a satirical skit than read an actual article or watch the news. One of the downsides of this is that sometimes politics is not taken seriously enough. If someone only references satirical political messages then he/she will not be completely educated on the

Before one can write about a political cartoon which greatly depicts two Congressman, Matthew Lyon of Vermont, and Roger Griswold of Connecticut, fighting on the floor of Congress in 1798, one needs to know what a political comic or cartoon is. A brief definition would do: Political cartoons are defined as illustrations or comic strips containing a political or social message that usually relates to current events or personalities. Now with that out of the way, we may proceed. Generally, when it comes to a political cartoon there are a few reasons why one would decide to draw it in the first place. What was the artist trying to portray, what kind of message was he trying to send, what target audience was he trying to reach?…

Context and Explanation For Political Cartoon The roots of the Haitian Revolution sprung from the Age Of Enlightenment. It was in this period that the wild notions of Liberté, égalité, and fraternité were loudly espoused to all who could hear. The Enlightenment was an overhaul of previous philosophy and science, favouring evidence over intuition, and logic over belief. According to Tom Standage, it was in this time that Halley discovered his comet, and Newton formulated the mathematics of gravity(160-161). In the political and philosophical sphere, John Locke and Marie Arout de Voltaire were reformulating what rights humans were truly born with(166).…

This should not be shocking considering President Donald Trump uses Twitter as a means of communicating with not only his followers, but the world. For years, social media has been a good tool for different candidates to communicate with citizens and inherently will lead to conversations between people who don’t always agree. These arguments can get hostile very quick, because everyone has their own opinion and doesn’t want to be wrong. All of these thing work together to separate the party lines. “This condition is unlikely to change, Steven Strauss, a 2012 advanced leadership fellow at Harvard, writes in The Huffington Post.…

Politics and governance date back to the first civilizations, yet its byproduct—political cartoons—originate in a much more modern era. In 1898, the Spanish-American War ended with the ratification of the Treaty of Paris, and the U.S. acquired nearly all territory of the Spanish Empire. Nearly two decades later, Mexican revolutionary leader Pancho Villa raided Columbus, New Mexico, killing sixteen Americans, forcing the U.S. government to take military action within the bordering country. Despite their amusing depiction, Louis Dalrymple’s “School Begins” and Clifford K. Berryman’s “I’ve Had About Enough of This,” political cartoons point out the flaws of the U.S. in dealing with other nation states and racial groups during American Imperialism…

The cartoon explicitly refers to the media and Donald Trump by using pictures of them. The cartoon also implicitly refers to the Republican candidate by using an elephant in a suit. The author uses this illustration to display to the people that the ideals and ideas of Donald Trump don't represent the republican party as a whole.…

This is an absolutely desperate attempt to gain followers, by flattering the citizens who can vote and their state. This another form of propaganda, by convincing balloters that the candidate has similar interests to the electorates. The candidates create several social media accounts to be more “in the loop” with their followers and the people they want to vote for them. Political cartoons are frequently made by artists to express their frustration with certain issues, politicians, and sometimes even the public as a whole. What initially appears to be a simply humorous cartoon is actually so much more. In these two cartoons, two completely unrelated issues are addressed: the Flint water crisis and global warming. Yet, both topics are discussed by displaying criticism that natural disasters are frequently disregarded until one’s career is at stake and even then, issues are ignored. When looking at these two political cartoons side by side, one can observe that these cartoons are not only used to show clear turmoil stemming from current natural disasters in our nation, but also they are used to criticize both…
