Eternal security is the conviction that once salvation is obtained, God will prevent falling away. This is in opposition to conditional security, which states a believer can lose their salvation if they continue to live in sin. I personally believe that Scripture teaches Christian eternal security. Paul taught security is not from individual achievement (Eph. 2:8-9). Additionally, the believer is permanently sealed through the Holy Spirit (Eph. 4:30). Nothing can separate Jesus from those who have committed themselves to Him (Rom. 8:35-39). Believers are new creatures united with Christ.
