How does Morrie teach people how to live life? “...,I have to look at life uniquely now”(Albom 49). Morrie Schwartz taught many important lessons to people, they are keys to living life happy and positive. Morrie Schwartz was a very positive person after he found out that he was diagnosed with ALS, he wanted to spread his knowledge before his time would come. In the memoir Tuesdays with Morrie, Morrie teaches people to live life through loving everyone around them and family, avoiding regrets, and forgiving everyone. The first lesson Morrie teaches is that showing love to family and caring for them is very important. Morrie’s childhood was very hard because his mother died when he was at a very young age. Morrie teaches Mitch not to have any regrets because if something were to happen, one would be stuck with that regret for the rest of their life. Morrie got Mitch to realize that he should call his brother with cancer or Mitch would regret not talking to his brother while he had the chance to. According to Morrie, “ We don’t get into the habit of standing back and looking at our lives and saying, is this all? Is this all I want?...”(Albom 65). I agree with Morrie that you should not live life with regrets. Many people have regrets, living with regrets would not be enjoyable. That is why Morrie is right about teaching how to avoid them. Morrie’s lesson about regrets connects to my own life because I ended a conversation with my mother very badly and something horrible almost happened to her that ended her life. I now end every conversation that I have with her on a positive note. Whether It Is saying “I love you” or complimenting her, I always end the conversation on a positive note. Morrie believes that there is no point in getting revenge on someone or being stubborn. Morrie wants to live life happy. Morrie believes that if you open up and forgive everyone, many opportunities will come. According to Morrie, “Forgive yourself before you die. Then forgive others”(Albom 164). I agree with Morrie that forgiveness is very important. Although forgiving someone may be very difficult, One has to overcome that and and many great things will go their way. It Is very important to show forgiveness to everyone. Morrie’s lesson about forgiveness connects to my own life because I once was forced to overcome the acceptance of forgiveness. When I forgave one of my closest friends for something that they had done, Our relationship got a lot stronger than It had ever been and we are still great friends with a strong bond.
