Mary Tudor was the Queen of England, reigning for 5 years (July 1553 - 17th November 1958), until she died. She was the daughter of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon and had strong Catholic views. In this essay, I will be discussing whether she deserves to be called ‘Bloody Mary’ supported with reasons why and evidence.

Mary I does deserve to be called “Bloody Mary”. This is because she killed 284 people at stake in the 5 years of her reign. The people of England could not have freedom of religion because she didn’t agree with their views. This is selfish because she is only thinking about herself and how she feels instead of the families dying because of their perception of God. She burned heretics because they did not believe in Catholicism and as she was a strong Catholic, this would’ve upset

This is because many people disliked her, so biased opinions were written about her and carried throughout history. The British were used to men being the main role in society, so many didn’t like being ruled by a woman. An extract from a history book (published in 2013) states, “Mary’s history has been written by Protestant historians. They have not been kind to her.” This shows she was misunderstood because the information written about her was biased, so people would be educated with these biased views.
On the other hand, she was a very smart person and a good queen. Giovanni Michieli, a Venetian ambassador wrote in 1557, “She is skilled in five languages...speaking four of them fluently” and “She is brave and valiant...courageous.” She was not a coward and was willing to fight for her country as she was brave. These qualities are good and not ‘bloody’ but are not spoken as much because of the biased views written. This is most likely true because information used to educate young people should be correct and there would be records of who wrote her history, their opinion and religion, which support the

: Upon examination Mary Roff and Lurancy Vennum although of differing ages, were alive at the same time, negating any claims of reincarnation. Being in the same town gives rise to the possibility that they could have met at some stage being of like minds literally. Also the ESP of Mary would have made her more likely to be a person of notoriety within the town. This could lead Lurancy to develop the alternate personality of Mary after her death if it wasn't a true case of possession. Both Mary and Lurancy suffered with what seems to be mental problems due to possible Dissociative Identity Disorder and Epilepsy, these factors do indicate leanings towards ESP and psychic phenomena, specially if Mary had a brain tumour from which she died.…

Although this thesis is still being revised, it states: Dario Fo had political and social triggers that led him down the path to creating a more modern—and revolutionary—giullare storytelling style that is comprehensible to masses around the world. I chose my focus(es) for multiple reasons. The first is that I need to understand why he revised biblical stories and, specifically, “Mary Under the Cross”. I believe if I understand why he chose it politically and socially, I can connect to it as well and create a better final product. Additionally, it is essential that I comprehend how it was revised by Fo and—hopefully—it will be helpful to my work on the scene.…

Catherine de Medici was an Italian-born, French queen who became very powerful and even more controversial during her time at the helm of France. Â Orphaned as an infant, used as a pawn in her family's vicious power games, saddled with an unfaithful husband, and forced to suffer the untimely deaths of several of her children, Catherine managed to maintain control of the true power of the French throne in an effort to protect her family and preserve her birthright. Her methods of doing so, including hiring an assassin to kill Admiral Gaspar de Coligny whom she believed threatened her son's rule as King and her own power, earned her the offensive nickname "the Black Queen. " This nickname was given to her by the French people who blamed her for all of the ills of France, including the massive killings that took place on St. Bartholomew's Day over religious differences between French Protestants and Catholics.…
