Does Indifference Control Our World Today?

Decent Essays
Does indifference control our world today? As a student I think it does because other people can come and take over and you wouldn’t be able to care so I disagree with Elie Wiesel’s point of view, indifference can’t be tolerated someone should have the courage to stand up and believe in what they think is good. It is not fair for Hitler taking over and killing the Jews, so we shouldn’t keep quite. Someone should always be heard even when they are weak. Indifference is our most tragedy it is the suffering of others. When violence occurs no one takes action until it’s too late. As Elie Wiesel stated “The opposite of love is not hate its indifference” I disagree because it should remain constant. The indifference of others causes deaths

Life is full of adversity, and at times it is full of hatred and anger. Everyone has a point in their life when they must decide whether rage and hate should cause them to take revenge or love one’s enemies. In the book Night, Elie Wiesel fights a battle between anger and hate towards his Nazi captors, and in doing this Eli develops the idea that wherever hate is, anger in there also. Night depicts that both hate and anger lead to each other, and everyone must choose to either act upon these feelings or one choose to wait and let it be. In opening, it must be stated that both hate and anger derive from the same place, and that one can lead to the another.…

It is important to talk about this subject because when we learn about this, we have the knowledge of not letting this happen again. People come to an understanding that it is the responsibility of citizens in any society to learn, to identify danger signals, and to know when to…

This can lead to insecure society. Zachariah (2015) supports that the apathetic behaviour is intolerable because it reflects high tolerance for violence and crime in society and nation. Citizens should bear responsibility for public security rather than shifting it onto the police. This indicates that indifference can lead to the increase of crime rate as criminal can commit crime easier. Keynote speaker, Clint Smith speaks on the “Dangers of Silence” through the reflection of his own failures to tell the basic, everyday truth. When we hear the word danger, we typically think straight of the actions committed by others that are grave and deadly. Mr. Smith, a writer, and teacher brought an entirely new meaning to the meaning of silence. Clint states that the pure act of silence being recognized as serene causes more danger than any good. He teaches the audience that when we are dealing with controversial issues that demand action from the public, we divert ourselves to keep hushed and automatically become muted in order to avoid the issue at hand.…
