With school having many students but not very many teachers classes are skewed beyond belief. Students do not get to pick their courses but are randomly assigned. This means if a student is interested in let’s say hairdressing and she gets put in a sewing class she is stuck in that sewing class. So students that are qualified to take an AP course may not be able to be put in those classes because they are randomly assigned and that means some kids are destined to fail if they are not up to AP standards and are put in an AP course. In addition, if students do not have internet or a place to study they have only a half hour after school to work in the library.…

Disappointments Since I started the ACCG950 course, there are not many disappointed points. I would say that my disappointment relates to the location of our classroom and the attendant of students. Firstly, I acknowledge that the classroom was changed because the room is too small for all students. With your concerns, the new room is big enough for all students; however, the number of students attending the lecture has been low.…

With the courses spread out and diversified, the average class size would lessen due to more options for the class. For composition teachers specifically, the smaller class size would mean more time to grade papers and fewer papers to actually grade. Teachers with smaller class sizes would also be able to have the time to know their students. This could benefit both the teachers and the students. The teachers would be able to understand how to teach each student and understand the way that they take in information and learn.…

The pressure that school, no matter the level, puts on students is unhealthy. Students are stressed to the max trying to achieve certain goals set by society. Every student strives for a 4.0 GPA and a high score on standardized test, even though they go through great amounts of stress to feel they have reached those goals. While if you don 't reach those certain goals you will feel like you have failed and not truly been prepared for your future. Evaluating students based on standardized testing is a very poor and inaccurate way to determine their intelligence.…

Manhattan vs. Nevada. My sophomore year I attended Manhattan High School in Manhattan, KS and I attended Nevada High in Nevada, MO the other three years. Class size, the amount of homework, and diversity are three things that are different between these two schools. There are many differences and similarities in these two high schools. At Portland State, 51.7% of the classes contain 20 to 49 students (Portland State University). On the other hand, Harvard “has 74 percent of its classes with fewer than 20 students” (Harvard University). Over the past few years at Southridge High School, I found out that I learn best in a classroom that contains a variety of students to interact with because I love to hear numerous ideas. Portland State presents me the opportunity to interact with a variety of students due to its class size. In contrast, Harvard does not give me the opportunity to interact with a variety of students because their class sizes are smaller than Portland State.…

The average student thinks of school and sees a prison. He despises the rigid schedule and depressingly early start time. I, like many other students, have felt incarcerated, as I have sat through history lectures and algebra lessons. Lone Jack High School (LJHS), the place that I have spent the past five years, can feel that way with its prison gray walls and blockish structure. However, over time, I have grown content with these features.…
