Imagine you are failing school and you are about to drop out. Wouldn’t you wish you could have done something to improve your experience? According to the U.S. Department of Education, “every year 1.2 million students drop out of high school across America which is one student every twenty six seconds or seven thousand students a day.” To counteract this problem, studies have shown that reducing class size has been beneficial for students.
To begin with, smaller class sizes are important because it increases student achievement. A california study shows that third grade students exceeded the national median in math by 10.5 percent due to class size reduction. This proves that when class sizes are lessened, students succeed because they have the attention they need to understand the lesson. Additionally, the Tennessee Project Star has shown that students in smaller classes score higher on tests and improve their attendance. A reevaluation proved that such students are more likely to go to college and have a four hundred and ten thousand retirement plan.
