Think About It (Ch. 10)
• Can information be truly objective and neutral?
I believe sometimes the information can be truly and neutral, but this is depended of and how is said. Expression and language can make big different in how the audience will get the message. If the speech will affect their feeling, they will answer in positive or negative way.

• Does even the choice of evidence make a speech persuasive?
Although a speech persuasive can influent in people’s ideas, sometimes this depends in how and which characteristics have the speech and the expression of the speaker. Also, the tone which use the speaker can influent in the development of the speech because a speech persuasive is not neutral. This is more direct.

Both of these essays present reasonable arguments in different techniques as to what their claims are, how they display their evidence, and how they present the evidence to their readers, but Rubin’s essay is more persuasive because she presents a logical approach to argue her evidence.…

In my opinion Jones is correct; rhetoric is more than just persuasive venture. Although, I believe that most people would relate rhetoric as persuasive writing or a speech that is negative or is a method to convince an audience on a specific point of view. I think rhetoric is all around us in conversation, movies, advertisements, and books not just to persuade us, but also to encourage or influence and help inform us about specific subjects as we read and write. Persuasion is to get someone else to believe what you believe building on facts and giving examples to convince them to agree with your ideas and conclusions. It also this means you know what you are talking about and have solid facts to make your case that will help persuade the audience.…

Words can be very manipulative and persuasive, if used right, they can be used to get people to feel different emotions and make people do things. But also, they can be used to make people do things that they might not have ever done without hearing that speaker say what they said to them. Rhetorical and literary devices are included when people are trying to persuade and manipulate people to more effectively change peoples minds.
