Does Beowulf’s character traits truly embody the ideal hero? That answer would be no. Although Beowulf did come across the ocean with good intentions to help get rid of the demon terrorizing Herot. Along the way he did get side tracked with Hrothgar's wife, pride in the name he made for himself, and his true desires which in the end came back to haunt him. There are things to realize like that there are faults in the stories about him and the ones that he has told and claimed of his many battles. Not even to mention the fact that Beowulf let’s his pride hang over him.
