The term race refers to dividing people into populations or groups on the basis of various sets of physical characteristics such as bone structure, and skin, hair, or eye color. The most common/simplest example of race is brown, white, or black skin from various parts of the world. Race presumes that biological and genetic traits are shared such as the Mediterranean people can have shared traits due to the Roman Empire rule and inhabitation of their lands. Does or did a pure race ever exist? Old racial concepts/categories were based on visible traits and includes geographical areas as well.
