Back against the wall I was ready to block a push. It was PE we were playing kickball and I was fifth in line to kick, and I was probably going to kick if it wasn't for this guy and his four friends. We just came back from the outfield and the kicking started good…

The PIAA needs to improve equipment, to combat the amount of concussions there are yearly. As sports continue to get more dangerous the constant risk of concussions are always there. Although most sports have equipment there needs to be routine checks on all equipment to make sure they are in good condition to be able to be worn during games. Researchers have found that “National statistics estimate the number of sports and recreation-related concussions in the United States each year at 1.6 million to 3.8 million” (Concussion law, 2010). This research proves that the current equipment is not preventing concussions.…

One activity that I would want to add to physical education would be Dodge ball. I want to add it because I think it is a good game, and I think that many other students in our school enjoy it too. If we were able to vote, in physical education, I think that many students would choose to add Dodge ball. The thing about Dodge ball that I think people enjoy is the friendly competition and facing off against their friends to see who wins. I think almost everyone can agree they enjoy a short friendly game of dodgeball.…
Dear Roger Goodell and the NFL Players association, How are you going to turn football into a safer sport in the eyes of the players and the eyes of the public? There has been a lot of criticism on the NFL stand with concussions, and it is well deserved. In 2015, there were 199 players that were concussed and had to take participate in the concussion protocol. The number was a huge increase from 2014, where there was 123 players that had a concussion during the 2014 NFL season. I’m writing this as a concerned fan of your organization.…

Should Children Under Twelve Be Allowed To Play Football? Children under twelve shouldn't be allowed to play football because of head trauma and concussions. According to the article the author states that "Former players were found to have had chronic traumatic encephalopathy, known as CTE," According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Boston University. Children are delicate and they aren't able to recover as fast as adults are that is because they haven't fully grown yet and aren't as strong children are still in a developing stage where they haven't gotten full strength.…
For a long time high schools have had sports teams and art programs and they started out with equal funding but over the years sports teams started receiving more funding while the arts clubs received less. Why do they give more funding to the sports teams, it might be that if you walk into a classroom there will likely be a lot of students talking about sports or athletes and only a few who are talking about a musical or art festival so, the school board might think that only a few students like the arts programs and everyone else like sports but, that's not true. There is a lot of pressure for boys to join the sports team because their father of brother want them to be just like them, so most boys will join the team and not actively participate so they are just wasting the schools money when it could be going to the art programs.…

As I approached my last year of Jr. High, I questioned whether high school sports were something I wanted to participate in. In Jr. High, I excelled in sports playing basketball in the fall, volleyball in the winter, and track and field during the spring. I knew that playing sports in high school would take up a lot of time, and push me to my limits. After thinking for awhile, I decided that I was up for the challenge. The decision to play sports was definitely the right choice to make.…
