“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God…And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:1, 14, English Standard Version). In this verse, it states that Jesus was God, and was with God from the beginning. He then came down and lived on earth as a man. Many years ago this actually happened. It is a fact written in history. Jesus was a man. Jesus came down from heaven. The deity and humanity of Christ is one of the most important parts of the Christian faith. It distinguishes itself from all other religions and cults. Christians believe that Jesus was both fully God and fully man. This does not mean he was a hologram of a man. This does not mean Jesus was some sort of a demi-god like Hercules. This …show more content…
Without this doctrine people could believe that Jesus was a separate god or simply a human being. Jesus is the second member of the trinity and equal to the God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. As stated previously, John 1 states Jesus has always existed with the Father but is still God. This is a very confusing topic because the Trinity is extremely complex and unable to be completely comprehended, but it should not be completely comprehended because that would mean man could understand one of the mysteries of God, and He is too great and magnificent for that. With the acceptance of the Trinity, Jesus is realized to be the second part of the Trinity and the Son of Father. How did he express his human nature then, if he has an eternal nature and the character of God? John 1:14 states that he came down and dwelt among man, but what exactly does that …show more content…
However, before self-understanding the veracity of this information and teaching must be identified. First, the logical approach is a great way to look at the Christian faith. The Christian is one of the most exclusive religion in sense that if a person does not believe in it, they will go to Hell. In almost every other religion this is not the case. In Mormonism, Christians would still go to second tier of heaven. In Islam, everyone has a fifty percent chance depending on God’s mood. In Jehovah’s Witness only a select few are chosen in all of time. In Eastern Religions everyone will be reincarnated. Pascal, a celebrated mathematician and great thinker, thought along these lines. It makes logical sense to be a Christian because it is an exclusive religion. Now this may be seen as “fire insurance” but some people need a logical approach in order to see the truth of
