Soteriology In Worship

Theology, regardless of our awareness or attention, is being taught throughout our worship. As such careful consideration should be given to how particular doctrines are functioning throughout our worship gatherings and the extents to which these doctrines are theologically consistent throughout the service. To that end the following will examine the Sunday March 13th, 2016 worship service at Woodview Church of the Nazarene specifically looking at the doctrine of soteriology and its function throughout the service. Soteriology literally means the study of salvation. It is the study within theology concerned with the trinue God 's work of redeeming all of creation restoring relationship with God the Father, through the grace of Jesus Christ …show more content…
First, the function of the Trinity. How is the relationship of the Trinity being presented in the service? How does this relate to God 's work of salvation? Second, and more specifically, how does who Jesus is and what he has done function in worship? Third, where is the cross and the resurrection in the service? What is the functionality of this in worship in understanding salvation? Forth, connecting what Jesus has done with God bringing about salvation to all who believe. Is there consistency through the proclamation of Jesus ' grace and the presentation of the entire story of God? Working through these consideration, we can now begin to examine the worship service at Woodview on Sunday, March …show more content…
The different testimonies that were presented in this service is something that rarely happens in the life of our congregation, but it is the essence of soteriology. The story of God centers around God 's plan of and working out salvation. Naturally sharing our stories as individuals and as a congregation would be a way to give witness to God 's work of salvation in our lives and in the world. When these stores are connected to and seen within the greater context of the entire story of God soteriology 's ongoing formation is in full effect. This witness through story also extends an invitation to those not a part of the story of the community to become part of the story and find there place in God 's great story of salvation. While this was only one service, and there were other aspect of soteriology to highlight, this service was influenced by soteriology
