Everywhere you turn someone is trying to someone else down.” I am sad to say that i have to agree with what she said because for one, when people look at these photos in magazines and on social media they pick out flaws about themselves that they want to change. Two,I believe that you should always love yourself and how you look. And lastly,I know many people in the world[not personally]have problems with being insecure mostly when looking these photos. These are some many reasons why, sadly,I believe doctoring photos to make something about yourself look “better” is just wrong.

Now let me begin to break down just why I believe that doctoring photos is wrong.Let’s face it when some people look at these type of photos they like to pick out flaws about themselves and try to change them.I know i do the exact same thing. Here is a terrible statistic from people magazine, they

Another reason why doctoring photos is wrong is,that you should love how you look because the website www.beliefnet.com said”there are reasons why you should love yourself but the main two are self-esteem and self-worth.” When you think you look good and feel great about yourself no one can take that away from you.I think the great actress and comedian said it best”Do your thing and don’t care if they like

Do Photoshopped Pictures Hurt Teens? Magazines often use Photoshop to make pictures of celebrities and models look perfect. I think magazines should stop using Photoshop because some teens feel terrible when they see their favorite celebrity looking better than them. The first reason is the teen girls say they want magazines to stop using Photoshop because they feel substandard when they compare their pictures with celebrities. Another reason is, in a recent survey, 80 percent of teen girls said they compare themselves to the photos of celebrities and made them feel unsatisfactory.…

Kate Murphy supports Christine Rosen’s argument on the fact that people manipulate a photo to support the view that they want to be displayed. The author says,“With body-slimming, skin-smoothing and age-defying filters and apps , people can make themselves look better than their true selves”(Murphy). People can be so unhappy with themselves that they are willing to go buy these apps or even go to the extreme by getting plastic surgery, just show the world a version of them that won’t be the truth. This helps enrich Rosen’s point because it shows that people are willing to change not only themselves, but the people they love with photoshop because they are so obsessed with how one should look, that we stop caring about the consequences.…

Cosmetic improvement is a good thing because it gives more self esteem to kids and other people who need it. The first reason that cosmetic improvement shouldn’t be terminated is because some kids get bullied about how they look and this cosmetic improvement could make that go away. Evidence to support this is that cosmetic improvement changes how you look and if you change how you look to make kids not bully you, wouldn’t that be worth it? Cosmetic improvement also can change how you feel on the inside. Looking good and getting compliments from other people can give your self-esteem a boost and ultimately can be good for the better.…

In my opinion, the altering of images within magazines is very harmful and misleading to the young population today. It is very disturbing to see a 12 year old looking up to an altered image of a model and taking that image as their role model. I am totally against this misleading act. According to the article, "Photoshopping: Altering Images and Our Minds," there is a 119 percent increase in the number of children under age 12 that were hospitalized due to an eating disorder between 1990 and 2006. This static right here should be enough to stop this horrible practice.…

Photoshop is behind many photojournalists’ downfalls. There is a thing line between correcting the color or brightness in the photo and cropping in or out an unwanted object in the photo. Being a photojournalist you have to be extra cautious in order to not cross that line. However, last year in 2016, photographer Steve McCurry was accused of doing this very thing. McCurry was first called out by Paolo Viglione, a fellow photographer, when an image from Cuba was found where the Photoshop editing had been messed up.(3)…

I know that the companies do it on purpose and that is what infuriates me. Body image is an issue that as always bothered me. Girls should feel comfortable and confident in their own skin whether they are thin or heavy.…
