Doctor Who is the longest running television show in history. It has stayed that way for 54 years for three reasons; it has a very gripping story, a smorgasbord of fancy technology, and it revolutionized science fiction. Doctor Who is the only television show that makes you wonder “What if the Universe isn’t as big and as complicated as we thought… what if it’s bigger?” Doctor Who is a television show centered around the Doctor, an alien, and his many adventures. He is from a race called the Time Lords that come from the planet Gallifrey. The Time Lords invented living machines called TARDISes, and the Doctor stole one that he still travels through time and space to this day on the show. Another famous one is the Sonic Screwdriver, a “screwdriver” that can open any door except for wooden ones and can do almost any task to almost any object without the need for complicated tools. These quirky devices are one of the main highlights of the show and have been around since the beginning. An additional object that is not used as much is the psychic paper, a piece of paper that can appear as any piece of paper that the user thinks of. The final object is the fan hated sonic shades, which are basically the same as a wearable sonic screwdriver, but the fans of Doctor Who hate them more. Essentially, the Doctor has many gizmos that help get him out of a pinch.
