The proposed Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project will take place in two of three ambulatory pediatric specialty clinics part of the University of North Carolina (UNC) Health Care System. The UNC Health Care System is a not-for-profit health care system that consists of UNC hospitals, its provider network and various clinical programs through the UNC School of Medicine (UNC Health Care, 2015) The proposed clinical sites include the pediatric pulmonology clinic, the pediatric gastrointestinal clinic or the pediatric nephrology clinic. The diseases studied at the clinics would include cystic fibrosis, inflammatory bowel disorders or chronic kidney disorders respectively. The UNC pediatric gastroenterology clinic and the pediatric pulmonology clinic are located in N.C. Children’s Hospital and at the N.C. Children’s Specialty Clinic in Raleigh (UNC School of Medicine, 2015a, 2015b).
