Do you consider yourself a leader? Why or why not?
To answer this question properly I find it’s important to first define what a leader is to me. A leader to me is someone that has a vision. Not only that, they have the drive and determination to persistently act towards that change. To carry this out, it requires one to have specific leadership qualities. Character traits such as initiative, wit, integrity, organization, and perception. Whether these traits or similar attributes are born or forged, they are necessary to act effectively. Furthermore, a leader doesn’t posses these ‘leadership qualities’ because they lead, they lead because they posses the necessary qualities and character. One factor being the cliché idea that you can achieve much if you are willing to work towards it. As well as the similar idea that life is always progressing forward. Often times we can be aside to this idea, however when one is aware of it, they act and progress themselves in that moment. In the moment being without hesitation. On another note, I find myself to be a spiritual and moral person. With that said, I strive to reflect well on that of my belief by the way in which I live. If I am living as if I were stagnant, it doesn’t reflect very well on that of what I believe. Not only do I think one should progress as an individual but also progress others along side them. This is why, other people also inspire me. I think a large aspect of leadership is as individuals we all have strong and weak qualities. I find it important to focus more on building upon your strengths and leaning on others in your weak areas. This allows for a more effective and working leadership …show more content…
To start, my freshman year of high school I became involved in multiple church functions. Outside of attending, I was part of missions trips, played the lead guitar in the worship band, and led small groups in my later years. The positions I was entrusted with and I what I chose to take management of shows my personal responsibility and caring nature. On another note, my hope of being a pilot led me to the local airport working as a plane detailer to learn more about the industry. I gained great insight regarding working in a professional environment. Shortly after, I took my hobby of photography and took on multiple jobs contracting and working full time in the field. These activities show my independent nature and high ambitions for what I can achieve. Next in my character reflection, I participated in cross country, track and swimming through high school. All these sports depend upon a mass amount of physical effort and endurance. More importantly, they require a mental toughness that many other sports don’t. All throughout this time I was faced with the adversities of parent’s divorce, family illness and loss. However, I managed to remain focused on the tasks ahead. Much of my efforts lie in the idea that one shouldn’t give up when faced with trouble but these troubles should push them to strive for
