Do we control our own destiny or is it made by natural forces. Two authors, David Epstein and William Ernest Henley have two different opinions David Epstein, the author of “The Sports Gene” believes that we do not control our fate. William Ernest Henley the author of “Invictus” believes we control our own fate. How much of what happens in our lives do we actually control?
In “The Sports Gene” the author talks about two long jumpers, Donald Thomas and Stefan Holm. He starts off talking about Donald Thomas. Donald Thomas was born with large Achilles tendons with makes him good at high jumping. Since Thomas was born with large Achilles tendons it was his fate and it wasn’t left up to him, meaning that his fate was made up to natural forces. When
