Do To Become A Man Essay

What do i need to do to become a man? It 's a question that all young men throughout history have asked themselves. For me it 's been a little different than what others may say, because my parents were divorced when i was really young so although I have a great relationship with my father (whom most men learn how to be a man from). I spent less time with him so I learned alot from outside sources such as my mother, clubs, sports, and other family. I also believe that most if not all that i say applies to both men and women. These are just some things I try to do even if I don 't always do them.

Most of the things i talk about are hard for most people to do because it causes us to think of the wellbeing of others over ourselves. being honest and doing the right thing are two concepts that often go together and are probably the most important to me. For me honest really is the best policy and unless somebody already has it out for you. i 've found that telling the truth always works out better than lying. doing the right thing is harder to grasp because it can be so different for different situations. but i think a good example is when me, my dad, and my brother tom were driving in his truck and we noticed somebody was broken down on the side of the road and long story short we ended up giving him a ride to his house near bye. I think a short story like that shows the values that i learned from my parents growing up on an everyday basis. That leads me into helping others specifically others who are down on their luck. A great example of this is when my brother was in highschool some of his friends got kicked you of there house or just didn 't want to be their because there parents were crazy and my mom would happily take them in for the night or a couple weeks if it came to that. but this really taught me that you should always help other especially when they have been knocked down. everything i 'm about to talk about pertains to (for me anyways) one 's quality of life. Starting with always keep learning for me this is the most recent quality i 've added to my list of “things to live by”. I first heard it from my grandpa when i was talking to him about going to college and him and my grandma moving out of there house of fifty years to their house in florida, last thanksgiving. What he told me was basically don 't be afraid of new experiences and always try new things as well as keep learning new things throughout your life. The more i thought about what he said the more it made sense to me. It seems that with so many people that don 't or refuse to learn it causes them to stagnate and atrophy at least mentally. This only limits them and it causes other things in there life to do the same. I also feel like that applys to more than just learning like we do in school but in traveling, leaving home, and meeting new people that why i find it so important. Being prepared is just one of those tried and true things that i learned from boy scouts, it is the motto after all. But it has yet to fail me whenever i prepare for a situation it always goes better than it would have had i not done so. The process is more important than the result it one of those things that i feel is really important to consider throughout life. this is most evident
