Gods and monsters can affect one's voyage in many ways ,but where as monsters are beast that have no purpose really they affect anyone standing in there way .Where as gods have a purpose to stand in one's way for odysseus his purpose is to avoid anything that comes his way and get to his final destination here are my reasons to support my claim.
