Stapley Junior High in Mesa, Arizona who only has six rules, are allowed to wear any article of clothing that do not show any straps, see through, or do not cover the entire back. Administration such as Senator Stephenson must immediately send innocent children to the office for this ridiculous blue-coated “Dress-code Violation” attire and pressing suspension to those who wish not to humiliate and embarrass themselves throughout the school day. I say it is downright deliberate intent to embarrass every student in every way possible by their operation of throwing the “Blue Suit” upon us. But certainly, from here on out, Westlake High School Dress-code shall no longer be enforced. We, students of Westlake High School now consider ourselves free to wear as we wish. He has refused to pass other laws on how teachers shouldn’t loosely teach us students without the intent of us learning something, yet he’d rather enforce something less important in a school atmosphere; an interrupted right to wear what we solemnly desire to express ourselves.…

Ever since we started school we’ve had to deal with dress code. However, schools have different rules such as whether you have to wear uniforms or how short your skirts can be. My elementary school required us to wear uniforms and as the years went on the dress code got progressively stricter. When I moved on to high school it wasn’t much better. They would constantly send people to the office to get a change of clothes, but by doing this they also removed students from their classes, making them fall behind.…

We all know that group of girls who show up to school with their breast popping out of their shirts, butts hanging out of their shorts, and belly shirts that show way too much skin. Obviously, dressing like this to school is in no way appropriate, and should be addressed. Another argument of why the dress code should be enforced is the fact that school is a learning environment and that we should be teaching kids how to dress for the future. By doing this, you are helping young adults understand that wearing a crop top or (for boys) wearing saggy pants to an interview definitely won’t get you a job. Others may say that enforcing the dress code, like providing school uniforms, will help families that are in poverty and will decrease bullying when it comes to making fun of someone’s…

Dress code is a subject that students feel should be less strict. Certain ideas and concepts pertaining to school dress code can be more lenient while still being effective. There are many unnecessary rules that could easily be fixed instead of being so forbidding. For example, the sexism and gender bias in the code is derogatory towards female students. If the situation is getting out of hand such as when the Albemarle County, Va passed rules towards a new dress code when lawsuits were filed and eventually taken to court where the judge said,”’the dress code is too broad-- and may be unconstitutional’”(Robson para. 6). With a school under these lawsuits and feeling as though their students are wearing inappropriate clothing; the easiest way to handle the situation is to enforce a school uniform. This way all genders are treated equally, the reasoning behind the rules are set in a reasonable manner, and the dress code is easy for everyone to follow. All schools that don't require a certain uniform including Jackson High School should adjust their dress code with the ideas of: the difficulty to follow the dress code, the reasoning behind the dress code, and the inequality of gender treatment. These changes in all schools alike would make the environment so much better for teenage girls constantly on the search for clothes that are, cute, appropriate, and fit their size.…

Dress codes should be banned from schools because they teach students that the way they dress is more important than their education, students can miss important lessons in class because they have to change or go home, and it's not a student's fault if another student cannot concentrate because of what they're wearing. In most schools, they have unnecessary dress codes and punishments for breaking them. In the article Girls getting fed up with school dress codes that treat them as distractions by Maureen Downey, it says that a girl was suspended for having blue hair because it was too “distracting”. This shows that dress codes can be unfair because it’s not the student’s fault if another student looks or becomes distracted by them.…
