Performance enhancing drugs can affect your health, give yourself and your team an advantage over your competition and also can be very expensive. This isn’t fair to your team or your opponent. If one whole team or most players on the team have used steroids or any performance enhancing drugs that gives your team an advantage over the other. In any sport that is unfair and shouldn’t be allowed.This can cause conflict and can cause bad sportsmanship. This is also cheating. Lastly, these drugs are expensive. Over time they can cost a lot and be very time consuming and take away you time from your practice that can help your team. The average athlete spends about thirty to forty thousand dollars on steroids and other enhancing drugs. (usatoday) For example there was a man, Lyle Alzado that used steroids in his sports career. Lyle took these enhancing drugs for over 15 years. He was diagnosed with brain cancer and died at the age of 43. The steroids ate away all the muscle in his body and when he had brain cancer the cancer ate all the muscle that was left which was very little and causes him to die. In conclusion, any performance enhancing drug should be illegal in sports and for any athlete who wants to use them. It has many different side effects that are unhealthy to anyone.
