Do People Litter Research Paper

Decent Essays

I've known people who litter, because they are too lazy to just get up and throw whatever they have away in the trash can. For some reason people think that littering is okay. How Society Influences Just imagine all the amazing stuff you could find in other people’s trash. Dumpster Diving is something homeless people do when they want to find food, clothing, and anything else they could use to their advantage. Dumpster diving gave me a horrible impression. I couldn’t contribute to the idea of someone, much less myself, digging or scrounging in another’s dumpster out in the open, touching food and material that could easily lead to deadly diseases. At first, I saw dumpster diving as a disgusting and unsanitary activity, something no one should ever attempt.…

Teachers have to consistently tell students to put their phones away when they’re on it in class, and some students ignore them and continue to sneak it behind a binder or in their lap. Our society can’t even go a mere hour without checking their phones because people have gotten so attached to them. Furthermore, some people in our world have even killed themselves because of technology. According to Fox News, a 13-year-old boy jumped to his death from a tall building after playing online multiplayer game for 36 hours straight, leaving behind a suicide note that said he wanted “to join the heroes of the game he worshiped” (“Chinese ‘Warcraft’ Game Distributor Sued Over Teen’s Suicide.” Fox News.…

Complacency has absorbed our society. People today have become numb to what is happening in the real-world and numb to what is happening in other people’s lives. Selfishness has taken us and we refuse to be bothered by any problem that is carried by another individual. Our society refuses to let anything disrupt our “perfect” life or what we think is a perfect life. Technology and social media has consumed us and our ability to connect with others, our ability to form real and meaningful relationships, and our ability to care about anybody other than ourselves.…

You’re out walking and once you finish the chips, you look around and realize you’re a hopeless puppy (metaphor) - there’s no public trash can anywhere! You have two options: you either litter like a madman (simile) or you patiently wait for a trashcan to appear. Most people unfortunately decide to litter. If a few trashcans were placed every few blocks, it’d be easier for everyone to throw away their trash and fewer people will decide to litter. Placing more trashcans will also make it easier for garbage collectors to gather up trash, not to mention it is better for the environment to live in a cleaner world.…

Littering is a very important law for many good reasons. One example of why littering is a terrible thing is because it doesn’t look good for your community. People who go and look for houses in your community might not want to move into your community because they do not want to be looked at by other people as living in a gross community. If visitors of the community visit that place once, they probably might not want to go back. Trash pick up also cost a lot of money too.…
