Do People Deserve To Be A Nonconformist?

Do you consider yourself to be an individual? Or do you consider yourself to be just like everybody else? Many people are scared to identify themselves as “different” due to societal standards because they are afraid that they will be judged for these differences. It doesn’t take long to understand the power and influence words have on one another and how their power can be used to hurt the feelings of others. These people who are afraid to be judged by others can be considered as “conformists.” On the contrary, those who can aren’t afraid to show how they identify themselves, or are able to withstand the judgements of others can be considered to be “nonconformists.” There are several reasons why these two types of people exist in today’s world that deserve to be mentioned, but first we should define each term and how they differ from one another. …show more content…
One reason might be that they are extremely insecure with their own individuality due to societal demands. For example, women are expected to be able to fit into a size “0” and men are pressured to resemble the physic of the Incredible Hulk. America as we know is a country that was founded on idealistic principles, like freedom of speech, religion, etc..
