They say what goes up must come down, and just like in life it comes around full circle, knowing there is no way of avoiding the inevitable, there are solely ways to prolong it. In the poem "Do Not Go Gentle Into The Good Night" by Dylan Thomas, he encourages he's readers to prolong the inevitable death, by stating if you are going to die, you might as well die fighting to stay alive, rather than letting death consume you and win. He tells you to prolong this death by fighting back.Through out the poem death and the certainty of death are reoccurring theme that the author and readers have to face. Dealing firstly with the emotions that death brings out in those who are dying. Secondly, dealing with mortality with a fight back attitude and lastly, welcoming old age.
