The Brady Campaign’s article, “Gun Control Laws: Should the United States Adopt Stronger Gun Control Laws?”, explains why it is a bad idea to limit the amount of guns being sold. If criminals want to get guns, they will. This is no secret to the general public that when something is illegal, typically that does not mean that there are no ways of getting it. Examples of this include alcohol during the prohibition, drugs, and even gambling. There are a variety of different ways that a criminal can become in possession of a gun even if it is illegal. Ohio Governor John Kasich was quoted in the article saying “You can strip all the guns away, but the people who are going to commit crimes or have problems are always going to have the guns” (Brady Campaign). Criminals tend to purchase their firearms illegally via the “Black Market”. They also have strong motives for what they are doing and they will just purchase guns illegally if they have to. Another point to address is that it is not the guns fault or the actual gun that does the killing. Rather, it is the criminal behind it pulling the trigger. Mike Huckabee illustrates the point to us when he was quoted saying “Gun violence is a problem in this country but it 's not the fault of the Second Amendment, it 's the fault of evil people doing evil things” (Brady Campaign). The topic of gun control has been quite ubiquitous amongst political views and debate topics. If there are more guns, less criminals will be willing to commit a crime. Making tighter gun laws will only affect the people that buy them legally and use them responsibly. As a nation, we need to realize that criminals will obtain the gun illegally and use it to commit crimes. Concealed carriers tend to be more capable of handling a firearm and in the chance they need it for self-defense.
