Do Looks Matter? Why do looks matter so much to people? Although how a person wants their significant other looks has changed, people still want their significant other to look great. Also it seems like looking good is more important to women than to men. Then depending on where a person is in the world what is defined as beautiful changes. Throughout time looks have been an important thing when looking for a person’s significant other. Looks have become more and more important as time passes on. I think that people are putting way too much emphasis on looks these days. Those times are at a funeral, and weddings. These are the only time it is mildly acceptable to judge someone by their appearance because a person should not arrive to a wedding or funeral in sweatpants and a old t-shirt. I think that society has put so much emphasis on looks because in today’s society money is everything. Therefore if you have money you need to show it off and be beautiful and have expensive things. In contrast the focus on looks is more focused on females than males. I think this is because females judge other females harder than males judge other males.
In conclusion today’s society looks are becoming more and more of a focus in today’s society. A quote that I think that should be dispersed throughout society is “ Certain things catch your eye, but pursue only those that capture your heart (Anonymous).” This quote says that do not always go by what you see but go by how you feel. People around the world need to hear this and take it to heart because the world is skewed in the views of what is important in life. The focus on how a person looks changes everyday and will keep changing until the end of time. Word count
