The informational documentary, “Do I Sound Gay?”, is centered around filmmaker and journalist David Thorpe, and his desire to have a less-feminine sounding voice. Thorpe’s struggles with masculinity has nothing to do with hiding that he is gay, a fact he is rather proud of, rather it is to aid in his attempts to find suitable mates as he is a mid-40s bachelor. His journey takes him to various speech coaches, LGBT icons, family and friends of Thorpe, and historians and experts in speech pathology to uncover the origins of the stereotypical “homosexual” speech patterns.
