First of all, homework causes stress on students. We may as well just spend all day at school if we are having school at home anyways. Students should go to school, work on “school” work, then come home and not do “school” work at home. This would increase the productivity and attitudes of students. I, for one, would be in a much better mood concerning school if I knew that I didn’t have to look forward to coming home to more school work.…

If kids didn’t have to worry about getting certain assignments done for the next day, I do agree with Darter that, kids would have more time to be kids. In her article Darter refers to a study done at Duke University. The study showed that “all it does is negatively impact kids’ attitudes towards school, learning, and their parents(the homework enforcers).” This research shows, not proves, that homework does have an effect on studies ability to do well in…

The truth is: the question about homework is opinionated and until either side side is proven, it will continue to be that way. Alfie Kohn, author of “The Case Against Homework”, says homework harms students and intrudes on family time, making relationships fragile. He supports his claims by quoting literacy expert Henry Davis…

“In fact, a study last year showed that the impact of excessive homework of high schoolers included high stress levels, a lack of balance in children’s lives, and physical health problems such as ulcers, migraines, sleep deprivation and weight loss.” (Kelly Wallace) If homework can cause all this, is it even worth it to cause all of these health issues in students? “The current study also examined the stress homework places on families and found that as the parent’s confidence in their ability to help their child with homework went down, he stress in the household went up.” (Kelly Wallace) When parents are unable to help their kids with their homework it puts more stress on the family because they are worried about understanding the material and ow to the problem.…

Many students are afraid to ask a question because they think it’s a stupid question, and that the other students will make fun of them. Chances are the parents won’t remember the material on the homework because they have been out of school for so long, which adds to the stress they already have from work and whatever else they do during the day. This can also lead to bad grades or wrong teaching by parents if they don’t know the homework. “Maybe students are right to complain about too much homework. A Stanford researcher has found that students in high-achieving communities who spend…

There are various effective arguments I would make to support students having homework by their teachers. The first argument I would make is that homework helps students to better retain the lessons they’ve learned during the school day. Students need a lot of exercises to do to retain what they learn everyday in school. Since class time isn’t enough to provide a lot of exercises on one subject, homework is the best way to exercise what’s been learned in class. If no homework is given to students on a subject that’s been discussed in class, it’s more likely for them to forget the subject the next day.…
