When I was a Freshman in highschool I was a straight B student and a cheerleader with a lot of friends and at home I had a loving family that wanted to see me succeed. I was so happy and carefree, the perfect life for a young teenager. You would never expect that I come from a divorced and remarried home. Cheerleading was one of my favorite sports; however, it took its toll on my knees due to the lifting of other cheerleaders for stunts. Because of that I had to see the Orthopedic Surgeon to have an exam performed to see if I would need surgery. As a result of this he had to quit work and his insurance was cancelled, thus explaining the response we received at the Doctor’s …show more content…

While conducting my research I stumbled across the topic of hereditary diseases. In the summary it stated that there is a high possibility that disorders of that magnitude could be passed down through the DNA of your children. As I read those words my stomach did a nosedive. Though I was not worried for myself my concerns fell onto my little sister. She was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) when she was very young. Even though my sister is perfectly fine a lingering voice in my head made me question if she really was okay. This news affected me everyday and made me very anxious every time anyone brought up the subject. I still remember one day while in class I started bawling for no reason. Although my guidance counselors tried to help nothing

I absolutely dreaded hearing the words "that makes me very sad," spoken in a sing-songy voice by my teacher when an infliction was committed by a student. I cried for three hours straight. This pattern continued until 3rd grade, when I took a risk for the first time in my life.…
