Divorce Rate In America

Approximately fifty percent of marriages in the United States of America ended with divorce. Most of the times couples separate or get divorce for things that they have done. However, most of these things could and can be avoid to lower the divorce rate in our country. However, six factors that are associated with low marital satisfactions are committing adultery, financial difficulties, addictions, work stress and obligations, depression as well as lack of communication, just to name a few (Staff Editor, 2012). However, it is believe that committing adultery is the leading reason why married couples get divorce. Even though, work stress and obligation is not as serious as committing adultery and financial issues, nevertheless, it is a huge problem in marriages today in our country. Furthermore, because of work stress and obligations, most couple separate or even worse, divorce. This is so because of being on different shifts or one of the couple is on night shift, or they work odd and demanding hours. However, couples can fix this problem by scheduling to spend time together as well as finding different in which they can keep in touch with each other throughout the day (Staff Editor, 2012). Depression is another factor that is associated with low marital satisfaction. An individual can be depressed and because of this it can cause a terrible struggle on any marriage, even if it was not professionally diagnosed. An individual may be happy and jolly and then suddenly they are extremely depressed. However, people who are depressed does not need to get divorce because they can get help, even though most people with depression usually do not try to get professional help. However, getting professional can saved marriages as well as cause couples to have a healthy marriage (Staff Editor, …show more content…
Most of the problems that couples have are usually because of communication problems. Communication is basically facial expressions, listening skills, tone of voice, as well as the words used in any conversation (Moore, 2016). Every couple have conflicts as well as disagreement. Furthermore conflicts are good for any relationship because it helps to build the relationship. However, how an individual handle conflicts determines how mature they are. Conflicts should be handled in positive and encouraging manner. Furthermore, because of negative communications most marriages ended with divorce. Couples should try and find positive ways in which they can communicate with each other without disrespecting or belittling each other (Segrin & flora, 2011). In conclusion, these six factors that are associated with low marital satisfactions can be avoided. Furthermore, couples should not be engaged in any of these factors as well as other factors that can cause separation or divorce.
