The reasoning behind the economic change in affect to American divorce rates was female labor force participating was increased, child support is better enforced and welfare is changing policies. Many women who are in the work force with high paid jobs, and are vary successful often times when their marriage falls apart are more likely to get a divorce. When people go through a divorce it can be vary messy, and can drag on for months or years just trying to settle on agreements. With that being said it will become vary expensive for both partners, and some will go broke while in the process of divorce. Then on top of that many people that have children in the process of divorce many time the male partner has to pay child support. Child support is something that would be to help support their child in the mother home. According to Econmmons.Cornell “Child support was enforced by having the power to withhold wages, seize lump sums from workers’ and unemployment compensation, lotteries, judgments, settlements; force the sale of property; and to suspend driver’s licenses of any sorts.” When parents get a divorce it doesn’t only affect them, but their children. Therefore when a family is going through a divorce a lot of gender roles become to change. Both parents are now stuck doing things their partner would have done.
