From Thesis to Diving Deep When I started this class I was unable to properly write papers. My thoughts and words were all over the place making writing the papers difficult. I didn’t know how a thesis worked and I really had no idea how to use it to setup my papers and go into detail. Now with the understanding of a thesis I can write a paper and use my thesis to go into further detail. Before I didn’t know what a thesis statement was or how to use it to write my papers properly. I always thought that a thesis statement went at the end of your introduction and was just a transition to the next paragraph. Me thinking that writing papers was hard for me because I had no organization in my papers. My thesis from my first week essay “Software

During the writing of my “Fahrenheit 451” and Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave” Analysis, I began by first, thinking out my ideas, to put together an essay that would be understandable to myself, the people reviewing my essay, and lastly, my teacher. You are needing a thesis to get your point situated right in front of the readers’ eyes so he or she doesn’t get bewildered while reading. In almost any standardized essay however, your maximum length for a thesis is at most, needing to be one sentence. Even though, you're evidently going to need to write more to get the introduction that is impeccable, but simple.…

Each paper will have a thesis statement laying out your central argument, for example: Adolf Hitler was able to persuade the people of Germany to elect his extremist Nazi Party to power because Germany was in the midst of a terrible economic depression, and with unemployment and poverty came a desire to find a scapegoat—namely the Jews. Note the presence of the word “because” in this example. In your first efforts to write a thesis statement, it is a good idea to include this word to be sure that you are answering the question of…

I knew my thesis would be one of the most important parts of my essay. My thesis statement would clearly show the view of my essay. This is important because the reader needed to know how my essay was going to prove my position on the topic. After I completed my thesis statement, I began writing my introduction. I created the introduction such a way that it would capture the reader's interest.…

In this course, I learned about writing steps like making a draft before you begin and not to write what you feel in your essay. I also learned about great note taking techniques. Today I learned about punctuation, pronouns, sentence errors and run-on sentences, Example: I love to write papers I would write one every day if I had the time. There are two complete sentences in the above. Example: Sentence 1: I love to write papers.…

During this semester, we have read a number of essays that make you think or even relate to. During the persuasion section of this course we read an essay called Too Much Pressure, by Colleen Wenke. I found this essay rather interesting, due to the fact that I am a student and the topic she is talking about is cheating in school to get good grades. Our book tells us that claims, thesis statements, evidence, and assumptions are the three main components in a good persuasive essay.…

My thesis at the end of my introduction paragraphs also seemed inserted in a random place. I leaned to develop my introduction, but I still could not insert my thesis correctly. I knew all the rules, but still my thesis seemed misplaced because my introduction development was not antiquate. I received negative comments on this too because my thesis felt “dropped in”. I learned how to open my paper in a way where my position begins immediately, not when I introduce my thesis.…

Writing is of great importance, and I take the process of learning to do it seriously. Prior to posting my working thesis, I intently studied the module learning resource, as well as the many handouts and videos that our instructor provided. I read the material multiple times, and likely, I spent too much time obsessing over every detail. I am glad that I took the extra time, however, in that somewhere in my hours of reading, I managed to grasp the concept of the thesis and the way in which we were using it for this first narrative essay. The feedback that I received was not only helpful, but I also learned an important lesson in overcoming fear, and adapting to find the right topic.…

English Composition I taught me a lot about myself, including how to be a better college student, through the process of writing. At the beginning of the year, I was not very excited about having to write argumentative papers. This is because I did not care enough about the assigned topics to have an opinion. But, I did learn a lot that I would not have known otherwise from having to research information about the topics I chose to write about. For example, in paper #2, I wrote about the niqab and how I believe that it is oppressive to women.…
