Divided: A Documentary On Chicago's Segregation

As my senior year approached, I imagined it would be difficult to choose what I wanted to major in. Interestingly, this perplexing question was already a part of my everyday life- I simply needed to look closely enough. When this question arose, I was a junior who spent the vast majority of her time binge watching YouTube videos, and wasting time online. Regardless, I still let this decision stay in the back of my mind during my leisure time. I asked myself this question: “What is that one thing that you do all the time, that you cannot see your life without?” Finally, as I sat on my bed one night, trapped in what people commonly refer to as the “YouTube Wormhole”, I felt a true connection to a career choice I considered. My mouse hovered over a video that spoke to me, “Divided: a Documentary on Chicago’s Segregation”, the title read. It was around this time that I noticed a pattern in my search history. Unfortunately, due to scheduling errors, I wasn't able to take this class. Instead, I filled my schedule with as many English courses as my counselor would allow me. This was an acceptable substitute, but I still wanted to gain experience within the field I wanted to study. I then remembered a past ministry my father used to run at our church. When I was younger, he created the ‘Lifehouse Newsletter’. He did interviews and wrote articles on topics that pertained to the church or Christianity in general. I asked him if we could start this again, except this time, I could be a writer for it. We have been in the process of creating it, and this experience has been fulfilling for me, but I still have a desire to learn in a more professional setting. Through interning, and possible travel opportunities, I feel that I can access my full potential in this
