Senior year, I became co-editor of the high school yearbook in a time of upheaval. Not only did yearbook no longer have a set class time, but the new yearbook teacher also had no experience with publications. Slowly, the after-school yearbook organization was whittled down to eight regularly contributing members. To meet the deadlines, my co-editor and I took action to reorganize the page assignments and to put in more hours at home. We also began communicating more with other members to ask for their input on pages. I organized collaborations outside the scheduled meeting times to fine tune colors and page layout. By relying on and helping others in the group, we filled the yearbook. Since Diversity Interns help coordinate many events, I plan to bring my ability to build relationships, communicate, and integrate different perspectives in order to best assist the prospective Amherst students and the Admissions
