If you do not notice an issue in the diversity in Hollywood your privilege is shining through. Majority of the highest paid directors are white males. The media and world itself has never had an issue with white males so they are extremely represented whereas many of the minorities are not. In hopes of ending this issue diversity is being taught in school but even then, directors now are missing out. The first steps to understanding and fixing this problem are becoming aware, gain knowledge on the topic, and act out on it. Not only is this noticeable in movies with ‘real actors’ but also in animation. An example of this would be in Shrek. Not only are the villagers, queens, kings, and such white but the only distinctly African American actor and voice is represented through a slave donkey. As the series continues this donkey also takes a potion to become beautiful and it turns him into a white horse. You can also see a lack of diversity in the famous Breakfast Club.
