Diversity In Latin America

Diversity is defined as the quality or state of having many different forms, types, cultures, and more. Being from a diverse environment is considered to be a valuable characteristic where one can acknowledge and accept the differences in others. This person whom had experience diversity is capable of being tolerant and open with others while one maintains their own opinion firmly. Therefore many different people are able to respect and look up to those who came from a diverse environment, or that is what people say. Attending to international institutions in developing countries like Honduras, Guatemala, and Nicaragua, I had lived in a diverse environment, however, it was always a challenge rather than a gain of the characteristic of diversity. Every single person in the international institutions were from a different environment. Some people were from a low income family, some were from a high income family, some were from Europe, some were from the United States, some were from different nations in Latin America, some had parents from two different countries; the environment itself was extremely diverse. Between all these diverse people, I realized that each culture was special, and that the characteristic of diversity was being developed in myself too. Although growing up in an environment where everyone was different from myself was challenging, it was completely worth it. I was not able identify with the people around me, but I matured in many ways through these environments and learned the valuable trait that diversity could give. I am honored to be able to have an open mind which understands and respects different cultures, and I hope to share it with other people, especially those in my
